Play in Manila: LAST DANCE: HUBO’T HUBAD

  • From the moderator: This is my first post about a play in the Philippines.
  • The Premise: Written and directed by Miss Saigon alum Jojo Urquico, this intimate 90-minute queer ensemble play centers on five male revue (“macho”) dancers inside the dressing room of a struggling bar in Manila on what might be its final night.
  • The Nudity: Yes, the play features both partial and full frontal male nudity. During its staging, cast members (including model-photographer Robbie Padilla) bare it all on stage. Critics note that while the sensual dances and nudity initially draw audiences in, the play uses it as a vehicle to explore raw themes of survival, trauma, identity, and the quiet search for dignity behind the stage lights.
  • Venue & Restrictions: The immersive show transforms Halxyon Club—a prominent LGBTQ+ nightlife spot in Poblacion, Makati—into a blackbox theater. It is strictly for audiences aged 18 and above.
The play Last Dance: Hubo’t Hubad is running from September 29 through October 29, 2026.
Performances are scheduled as follows:
  • Days & Time: Every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m..
  • Specific Dates: Remaining October show dates include October 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, and 29, with a special screening event on October 17.
  • Venue: Halxyon Club, located in Poblacion, Makati City.
