Review: All American Sex Addict/Woke AF

Most of the recommendations, when writing a play is “show not tell”. But the script from Matt Morillo is not one of them. The playwright has a knack for writing interesting dialogue. I have heard of the concepts “Woke AF” or “cancel culture” but I admit I am not fully updated on everything that’s going on. And in a span of eighty minutes, Morillo covered a lot of about these topics. I think for this topic telling is the best way to go, and it almost worked.
The banter between characters are very interesting. And the final monologue of the character Andi the biracial character at the end was just amazing. If you are into politics, you will greatly appreciate it. The message is loud and clear. We should unite against a common enemy, not tear each other apart.
The problem lies in that the main character Jack is not likable at all. So it is very hard to believe that all the other characters in this play are drawn into him. The prologue about Jack’s character is not credible enough to justify why his life will be made into a film and supposed to be famous Hollywood actor is interested in doing it.
Peter Buck Dettman as Jack
The actors have a great chemistry  as they went all in on the joke.
Peter Buck Dettmann who played Jsck has the most difficult role as he is tried to embody a very unlikeable character and it was really hard to empathize with him and be on his side.
There is ample amount of nudity in this production both male and females in a very well lit stage and in extended period of time. Peter showed us his dad bod, with an uncut cock and very bushy pubes.
All in all it was still an enjoyable night at the theater. Let us support these off off broadway companies.
Go watch this show. It is playing until April 14, 2024!

  1. Saw this evening with a $15 TDF ticket. Didn’t really get it. Peter Buck Dettman gets fully and unbashedly nude for a full 5 minutes. Average looking lanky guy. He is more of a grower than a shower. Cock has one of those very tight foreskins that covers everything plus an extension. Tight ball and a very hairly bush. He, unfortunately, kept his socks on. I would rate this 4 for the generous nudity.

  2. I agree FPines! Great for nudity but the play was quite long. I loved the idea of presenting male nudity in a different way, but I also think the show took on way too many ideas and didn’t have enough time to explore them. The scene between the two women was the most effective (can you be a social activist and actually do more damage than good inadvertently) ? I thought it touched on key points. But aside, there were many places the show could have ended but it kept going,

Kudos for the actors for taking the nudity but overall, I see this show as a work in progress, or I guess a Woke in Progress.
