This Sam Shepard play has numerous productions over the years and some of them really followed the script faithfully with the actor playing the character Wesley even urinating onstage. I wonder if The New Group has the balls to do it as the playwright suggests.

Yup, Cooper comes out completely naked from stage right in Act 2, takes the lamb from center stage (the animal trainer was out sick during my show, so the actual lamb was replaced with a wooden “lamb” on wheels), and exits back out stage right. He’s naked onstage for less than a minute total; I don’t know if it would take more or less time if the real lamb were there.
Cooper is uncut and average-sized, and I think his pubes may have been trimmed but I don’t remember exactly. I thought it was interesting that he was uncut given a line earlier in the play where Calista Flockhart specifically refers to Cooper’s character as circumcised like his grandfather. Also in Act 1, he whips out a fake circumcised dick to pee all over his sister’s posters, so they weren’t super consistent with this, lol.
Where is the best seat to sit to see this?
The theater is small. I was in B 13, which was the middle of the 2nd row, and was fine (You could almost smell Cooper), I’d say maybe a few rows up D, E, F…in seats 13, 14, 15. You’ll see him pee, and him walk onstage naked. I say a higher row only because in the front rows your view of some action (no nudity) is blocked by a huge kitchen island.
When he is walking naked, where do you think the best spot is to sit? I’m looking at seeing the show and I have a choice between Rows A, B, C and D. Which would be the best to sit? Also I’m on the shorter side and I want to be able to see the play and of course the scene.
thanks!
He comes from stage right (audience left) and walks across most of the stage. So pretty much any row, middle or audience right is best. I would recommend C or D or higher, nudity is clear from any row but some of the set may block some scenes for those in first two rows.
You’ll see him naked fine in any of those rows. Very small theatre. Row A, 5 or 6 seats in from the far right, facing the stage, he’ll sit on edge of stage with his knees in your face.
Thanks! For the nude scenes is sitting in Row B too close?
