Jordan Tannahill’s PRINCE FAGGOT moving to Studio Sea View

From the press release:  On the heels of a sold-out, critically acclaimed run at Playwrights Horizons/Soho Rep. Jordan Tannahill’s PRINCE FAGGOT comes to Studio Seaview. For 6 weeks only (September 11 to October 26)

About the play:

What begins as a theatrical thought experiment — six queer and trans performers imagining themselves into a world of inherited power and royal expectation — quickly becomes a gloriously profane and surprisingly tender love story. Equal parts delicate and audacious, PRINCE FAGGOT takes on identity, inheritance, and all the beautiful, terrifying contradictions that come from living truthfully in a world built to contain you.

NUDITY REVIEW: Includes full frontal nudity and explicit sex/kink scenes. Both Mihir Kumar and John McCrea went all out.

Studio Seaview is located in the heart of Manhattan’s Theatre District, just steps away from Times Square. The venue is easily accessible by subway, bus, and car—or on foot from the surrounding area.

  1. Thanks. I am looking forward to it. I just heard that MTC will be presenting Bug by Tracy Letts in January on Broadway. The play does feature male and female nudity. Michael Shannon was in the original cast. I saw Paul Sparks in the show. Carrie Coon and Namir Smallwood have been announced as the leads this time.

    1. Sit stage right in the front. That’s where the sex scene takes place. I was all the way on the left, 11 rows up, and I saw the Prince George actors balls – which were nice and large – swinging during the scene. The kink scene is front and center.

      1. Is there a good frontal of the other actor the boyfriend? When I saw it I. The original run, it was a great view from behind but he kind of covered his front with a towel when he was facing the audience. It was only like the third or fourth show so I wondering if he got more comfortable as time went on

  2. I was sitting in the back of the audience house left. The first row or so look like they might be lower than the stage so even though you are closer I think you might see more from a bit further back.

The sex scene (which then continues as a two guys hanging out naked scene) is staged upstage left. Both actors were fully nude – both quite handsome. Both were very flexible and athletic though in the choreographed scene. It is quite intimate without being graphic. It is possible during the simulated sex that a part of the audience might see more of one actor or another. From where I was sitting I did not see a frontal from either in this scene. The scene then continues and there is more of a chance to view. From my view both actors showed rear. The boyfriend at one point bent down to pick something up and a very nice set of balls were in view.

The Prince is also naked in a BDSM scene staged upstage center and also a kink party/club (?) scene downstage center. The actor is full frontal and rear. Nice size penis. Strobe lights do occur during this scene – so be aware if that bothers you.

Both actors also are in briefs at times.

I liked the play over all. There is some excellent writing – the monologues stand out All of the cast have their moments. John McCrea as The Prince and Mahir Kumar as Dev, the boyfirend really stand out. I found their scene together in the rain heart breaking.

One last thing, yesterday after the house opened and people were taking their seats there was a very friendly shirtless twink with a tray of drinks and snacks for sale. He isn’t a part of the play but part of the house/bar staff. I assume it is done with each performance but not sure if it would be the same guy.

  3. Jordan Tanahill’s husband, Brandon Flynn is in a play called Good Sex. The premise is the actors have never read the script and just work with an intimacy director.

Not a ton of info, but anyone know anything about it?
