Nudity Review: LA MACHINE DE TURING

Timon Sturbej
It is helpful to brush up on who Alan Turing is when you see this play . Alan is a mathematical genius who happens to be gay when homosexuality is persecuted in the 1950’s.
This play goes back and forth from past events in Turing’s life while he was imprisoned.
It could be confusing as it jumps back and forth with his relationships with different men at certain stages of his life from Christopher Morcom to Arnold Murray.
Records of Alan Mathison Turing, of his mathematical-ingenious brain, and of the historical facts that are formed around him are surprising, interesting, and full of theoretical speculation about the impact that research into athletically built genius has had and still has on the development of artificial intelligence. We can read about his research work, which was crucial to solving the Enigma (a German electric message encryption device used during World War II), about his scientific work at the University of Manchester.
Nejc Cijan Garlatti
The actors did a very fine job in bringing this Slovenian version to life under the helm of Ivica Buljan.

Nejc Cijan Garlatti as Alan is acted credibly as an anguished man.

Timon Sturbej who has to play the different roles in Alan’s life has such a great presence onstage. He is very good playing an alpha male.

About the female actor’s role, I’m quite confused what she is , I guess she is an imaginary person in Alan’s mind when he was imprisoned.

Nejc had multiple scenes in the nude and prolonged scenes in the nude. For some reason he loved undressing and dressing. He has a lithe body, zero percent body fat. Nice uncut cock and if you sit audience right, you can even have a quick glimpse of his hole.
And I would like to thank the director for giving us gratuitous nude scenes.  Towards the end of the play, I gave up seeing Timon Sturbej in the nude. The play is over, there was no reason for him to take his clothes off. But he did!!!  He took off his underwear and shoes us his nice uncut cock and ran back and forth naked in the final scene. He is so sexy!
A MUST-SEE!!!
Catch it. It is playing at La Mama until March 5

    1. Nevermind, saw it this afternoon, sat in the middle and had a great view! Awesome nudity I must say, Nejc got naked three different times and stayed naked for several minutes each time. As for Timon Sturbej, Hall of Fame for me – his running fully nude was brave and daring and I was even happier with his ending monologue performed fully in the nude. There was a bit of a wardrobe malfunction at the end – after the final scene the lights went out briefly and when they came back on for the bows, Timon was still fully nude, his underwear twisted around his ankles as he tried to pull them on. Finally he pulled them off completely, fixed them and was able to get them on before the bows. He, the actors and the audience all laughed during this, a “only in live theater” moment.

As for the play itself, I have to admit there were times I had trouble following the subtitles, especially when two actors were talking at the same time. There were a few times when the actors were ahead or behind them and curiously the lines spoken in English did not match up with the words on screen. Still, it was a good look into the tragic life of Alan Turing and the actors really gave it their all. Plus having Timon Sturbej be shirtless for 80% of the show was much appreciated.

I too am a little baffled by what the actress was supposed to represent throughout- Turning’s mind, his machine, his feminine side? Not entirely sure but maybe that was the point.

  1. Small world! I was there too this afternoon. Loved the end where he couldn’t get his underwear back on. Loved the show, although it was a tad bit long (maybe trim 10-15 minutes). I was also confused by the symbolism of the female lead. Nudity rating -amazing!!!
